illustrae Fish Addict Posts: 820 Kudos: 876 Registered: 04-May-2005 | Hmm... that's really cool looking, but like OldTimer said, the cleaning issues would make it a pain to have, and when you consider that the lower orbs are completely enclosed, their exposure to enough dissolved oxygen might be problematic. The surface area for that tank is not sufficient for many fish at all. However, it's still really cool to look at Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean... |

Two Tanks Big Fish Posts: 449 Kudos: 328 Votes: 13 Registered: 02-Jun-2003 | It is totally wrong for a betta tank, the bottom orbs have no air that I can see. The betta would have to be able to go all the way to the top orbs (if it could get air). You could still only have one since the orbs are all connected. It is just not practical for a betta. There is not enought surface area for other species of fish and I don't see any filters or air circulation, not heater either.... Not a good plan at all. |

Everyone has already had their say on the practicalities of maintaining such a monstrocity. Thanks for sharing tho' Always interesting to see what is available out there. Who knows why it was originally built. Maybe it was just as a showpiece for an industry (glues or perspex or whatever) as a one off talking point for a trade show. But once the image is whizzed around the internet the original context is lost. ~~~ My fish blow kisses at me all day long ~~~ |
