I was in one of the LFS and in some of thier display tanks they have a background that is made to look like a flat rock wall or the inside of a cave. It perked my interest and so I inquired. None of the staff on at the time knew what it was made of. I did get my hands on one piece that was out of the water in one tank and it felt like a concrete mix or something like that. Does anyone know what it is and if it is readily available and reasonably priced?

Ok, they use foam as a base. The concrete mix is what I am interested in. I would guess that it does'nt have a whole lotto lime in it. Is it an aquatic specific concrete mix? If so where would I begin to look?

I have seen several types over the years at LFS some "appear" to be a thin fibre glass shape/s then sprayed with a coloured sand and paint mix. Some are thick "like" a styrene base, they are extremely light they are also sprayed with a coloured sand and paint mix. All the ones I have seen seem to be made from molds.

There has been some made from styrene foam base by members but unless you have some knowledge of what to make them out of it is best to buy one already and knowing it is safe to use.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

There's also foam with a layer of epoxy covered with sand/gravel/whatever sounds like fun.
