Greetings my first post, but i am getting ready to set up a aquarium room, and noticed at the aquarium store i hang out has most of their aquariums set up on one pump and i am assuming a single filter system,
i was wondering if anyone has any info on how to do this, i was thinking that would be a great way, i have noticed they have a pvc piping system from the aquariums, *fortunately im a plumber by trade, if i cant find any info from here i will go and ask the shop if i can take a look at their system, or if anyone has any diagrams of their multiple set ups? At this time i am not intersted in a salt water set up, more intersted in the fresh water aspects. i would hate to have like 5 aquariums with differnt types of critters and that many filters pumps etc
any help would be appreciated
many thanks
war

well if u do that u run a much greater risk of spreading disease between the tanks. my lfs solved this problem by getting a giant air compressor conntected to pvc surrounding the tank parameter, the air goes in individual sponge filters which, although is not a very good filter, they do save money and dont risk spreading waterborne disease

Hi,
This can be easily be done with some plumbing, preferably
using PVC piping and a filter system such as this:
http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_Display.cfm?pcatid=3627&N=2004+113427

This is but one link. There are modules that will handle
up to thousands of gallons. Be warned however, the larger
systems do make A LOT of noise and some sound proofing of
the fish room with attendant cooling, heating, and
ventilation problems are possible as well.

Be sure to include an UV module and have ball valves that
allow you to isolate any one tank from the system. That
way you can clean it, overhaul it, or treat it, as
as necessary and not affect the others in series with it.
