HOKESE Mega Fish Posts: 1105 Kudos: 478 Votes: 271 Registered: 22-Feb-2003 | hey guys. well my arrowana is growing like a great white shark. man do these things have a massive appetite. he has easy doubled in size since i got him. hes now one nice looking fish, hes silver colour is so bright,he looks like hes been polished...lol hes been getting fed a slew of foods too, large shrimp chunks, earthworms, feeders,a stack of pellets, pinkies,he knocked of the biggest fattest woodie yesterday,i could here it being crunched up from outside the tank. also i got told that he would very rarely go near the bottom of the tank. this is not the case with my guy,he swims all over the the tank,i got a fake reef along the back of the tank,he goes in one end and comes out the other,i even seen him scoop up some gravel and swish it around, then spurt it back out. because he is like this, ive decided against putting a catfish in with him(so i passed on the tiger shovelnose). plus the signs of aggresion he is starting to show, and hes jaws are alreay lined with a wicked set of teeth,he could inflick massive damage. ive felt the wrath of hes bite,a few times, and hes not even half grown yet. so yeah me thinks this fella will be fine on his own. |

HOKESE Mega Fish Posts: 1105 Kudos: 478 Votes: 271 Registered: 22-Feb-2003 | na,even when he ends up in the BIG tank,i rekon ill just keep him alone. also you know what the cheeky bugger has started doing, biting the end of the intake for my filter. i think he mite see "leftovers"sticking to it,and as hes so greedy,he bites it off hoping for a few morsels of food.. |

Mez Ultimate Fish Guru Asian Hardfeather Enthusiast Posts: 3300 Votes: 162 Registered: 23-Feb-2001 | We have a double red at work, bout 20" long. It's mad as anything, its in a huge display tank with some channa pulchra and a pair of giant red fin gouramis. We've had to weld a peice of glass as reinforcment due to its rather "radical" feeding style! |

HOKESE Mega Fish Posts: 1105 Kudos: 478 Votes: 271 Registered: 22-Feb-2003 | yes i can second that,i copped a wicked bite the other day when fillling the tank back up,he bites a my fingers. as hes getting big, fast, the bites are getting harder and harder. but atleast hes happy and doing real well. at the rate hes growing he will be well over a foot in no time. as hes size doubles,so is his aggression too.he loves just about all foods, but i think he favorate is feeder fish. im pretty sure its the thrill of the hunt, getting to chase something down, kill it,then devour it. i guess it keeps his hunting skills on point. when we move, ill start breeding cons again,so ive got my own feeders, nice and clean then. these guys wouldnt have much call for some vegies in there diet would they. |
