Ok i chucked the old one and my new tank is set up and decorated, the fish are in and the new equipment is running well.

This time i decided to use sand instead of gravel and WOW does it look amazing! The water is still a bit cloudy but i presume that this is the sand and im waiting for it to settle a bit more, it getting clearer and clearer by the hour!

Is there anything i need to know about the sand?? any special precautions or anything?

thanks guys!

You need to rake it once or twice a week to prevent any anerobic bacteria pockets that will give off harmful gasses. Sand doesn't flow water well, so it needs to be aerated on a regular basis. To vac it, just kinda hover over it and circle the vacuum, most of the detritus will come up and leave most of your sand
