Id up that school to atleast 12 . I think it would look incredible, and the lil neons would be happier in a much larger group. Then Id think about adding a 2nd large school of something else, harlies, rummies, a smaller rainbow fish... which would fill out the middle of the tank and let the gouramies be the centerpiece of the tank. for the bottom, id let the rams hopefully breed and develop a small colony. |

You could do a nice school of 8-10congos in there. Much much larger than neons and much easier to see in a big tank especially from a distance. If you make sure to get the right number of males to females(takes a bit of practice but even juveniles have differences) then the males would stay in full spawning colors most of the time which can be impressive. They are also a very fast fish when given the space and would love racing up and down a tank that size. One reason I suggest a minimum 55g for them. If you don't want more tetras which it looks like your interested in cichlids you could try a pair or a couple pairs of apistos. I don't know if they or the rams would accomplish breeding in that tank without the other fish making off with all the eggs and fry but they'd definitely try it. Shelldwellers would also probably be possible. Watching a small colony of cichlids go through all the usual mating, spawning, and claiming of territories can be very entertaining. In a 120 you could maintain a nice sized colony of most of the small cichlids even with your current stock. You just may not have any surviving offspring. |

I would also add some Golden Barbs , maybe 5or6 . They are great fish, lots of fun and pretty good tank mates . Garry |

When they get larger they can become very bossy and certainly not suitable for the Pearl Gouramies. I would also go for a good size school of Cardinal Tetras as they are far hardier. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do.
