Ok then, well ive got my self an 80(US)g tank on the way. To be honest i didnt think i'd be able to afford a tank of this size, but now ive got my hands on one ive completely lost track of what i want to stock it with.

ah the problems we have

so basically guys i'd love any advice and stocking suggestions that you can offer.

this is what ive got so far:
(Im not to sure on some of the numbers i should be keeping some of these fish so ive just wacked a ? by the ones im unsure of.)

1 gold nugget pleco
1 sailfin pleco
1 rainbow shark (Considering, moving over from my 58(US)g,
3? fire mouths
2? bolivian rams
some sort of schooling fish
3? Apistogramma viejita

I want to go with a slite south american chichlid theme but im still really open minded on what to do. Can i add more? are these species able to live together? Basically every time i think about what to add, i get a little more lost.

anyway, chears guys

I want about the gold nugget with any other plecos. Mine killed anything in the bottom of a 55g. It might just have been over agressive and it was a smaller tank but most of the gold nugget species are known to be fairly territorial. The rest would get along fine when not breeding but I'm not sure if the firemouths spawn how agressive they are. I'd probably go with several pairs of rams instead since it's fun to watch them develop their individual territories for breeding while rarely leading to any injuries.

My favorite fairly large schooling fish is congo tetras but they are an african species.

thanks for the reply sham and sorry to hear about your rogue gold nugget.

was it just other plecs it attacked or where all the bottom dwelling fish killed. my lfs is usually fairly knowledgable about the fish they sell and they informed me they were slightly aggresive toward other plecs but not that aggresive!

if any one else has any experiance with this fish then please share it with me as this is a fish i really wanted in my aquarium community.

It left cories and loaches alone partially because they were just too fast to go after but beat up any other plecos. Even my royal that was well over twice the gold nuggets size. Eventually I decided to just return the gold nugget.

If you get the pleco's as juveniles and add them to the tank at the same time, they should be OK. Give them a piece of drift/bog wood each and make sure there are enough hiding places.
