What would be your perfect 29 gallon tank? I just got a used one with all the fixin's real cheap! Haven't set it up yet or cycled, just brainstorming for now... looking for creative ideas! I am really into live plants, so I would like to have live plants in the plan... where should I go from here?

Also, how many fish will I need to cycle this thing?

You dont need fish to cycle.
take a lil gravel from an existing tank, some old water from an existing tank, and /or an extra bit of used filter media... add to the new tank. for ammonia you can use 100% ammonia used for cleaning ( be careful it doesnt have have anything else- or fish food.

As for stock-what do you like?

Hi Devon7,
As many years as you have been a member of FP, I'm
surprised you have not looked into "Fishless Cycling."
It is far easier, and does not subject any fish to the
pain and suffering of cycling a tank with fish.

Check out this site, one of many on the subject:

Thanks for the tips guys, I haven't dealt with a tank bigger than 10 gallons in like 5 years... I have a lot of overgrown plants in my little tank, I can put some of those in there, and maybe I can "loan" a small piece of driftwood to the big tank....

I was thinking it it might be nice to have an angel in there, but do you think 29g is too small?

Take their advice and fishless cycle. Be sure the ammonia has nocolors or scents added!

As for Angelfish I have a pair breeding in my 29. Plenty of room for them.

More effective than plants and driftwood would be moving over a used filter cartridge from your current tank.
