If Fluval actually recommends you to in their manual I'd be surprised. They play a role as something for beneficial bacteria to settle upon, rather than collecting debris, so they do not have to be changed. -------------------------------------------- The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. |

I took all mine out and replaced them with a fine Scoria 3=5mm (volcanic rock) It works a lot better in my Eheim Pro11 Or do you mean just replace then with the same product? If that is the case not required at all You might have to do a top up but that would be all. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. But I think you would have a bigger problem is they got clogged......leave them alone and be happy tou have something that you don't have to spend money on in this crazy hobby Djrichie "So Long, and Thanks For All The Fish" Douglas Adams |
