I can imagine that you will have quite a number of fish in there, thus most likely a large variety. You will want to treat fish for any disease for the type oif fish, instead of the whole tank. That also saves money (treating a smaller volume). Also having a quarantine tank lets you quarantine fish before they go into the main tank, which may prevent a disease from going into your tank. |

It would be much easier to keep an eye on fry in a little tank, and that way big fish wouldn't eat them. If you need to use medication, it would be a lot cheaper having a small tank. Putting new fish in quarantine would be good too, since you'd lose a lot of fish if there was an outbreak of disease. But I had a fry/hospital tank, and it doesn't really work for both. If there are sick fish and new babies at the same time, there's nowhere to put them all. Didn't help that I put a betta in it when it was empty ![]() |

If you needed it for quarenteen then all you need do is pop the fry into the main tank, in a breeding trap of corse!. However this only works if your fry can't escape from it. This has worked for me whilst quarenteen has been the use for the smaller tank. And it does save money, you don't have to buy two tanks two heaters, two.... etc This is what works for me, let us know how it goes. |

I belive it stresses the fish less to do one move then to do two, also I gives the fish more room to swim and play, than the smaller tank would. Many people suggest them, and swear by them. I have had 1 break out by not useing a quarantine tank, but nothing big. hope this helps, also it keeps me from having to run two tanks. (cheaper) |
