Thanks! ~Morgan~ |

If you work out the surface area of that tank you come up with 24x12 (length x width) which is 288 square inches or two square feet. The recommendations for aquariums ba would be 24 two inch fish, or 14 two and one half inch fish, or 10 three inch fish for two square feet of surface area. "Tall," sometimes call "Show," tanks are designed specifically for "showing" or highlighting A fish or two or a species in an aquarium auction or for judging in a contest. The tall narrow tanks allow more tanks on a table, and more particularly, it restricts the fish's movements so that when the judge is looking at the fish, it can only move just so much left and right and mainly up and down in the water column. This means that the judge or observer does not have to "chase" a fish from one end to the other and is less tiring to the judge. Because the surface area is smaller in the show tanks you cannot house as many fish in it as you can in a "long" tank. Just something to think about when stocking a tank. The rams would be nice, but I would keep more than one, a pair of Bolivians or a pair of the German Blue, and then you'd be "pushing" again. The same with the dwarf gourami, I'd want a pair. Adding an air stone simply riles the surface and increases the rate of exchange between the atmosphere and the tank water. Time for another tank? ![]() Frank ![]() -->>> The Confidence of Amateurs, is the Envy of Professionals <<<-- |
