These fish get about 2-4' long and are active swimmers, and need ample space so that they don't crash into the walls. If you want another middle dwelling catfish to replace it, consider glass catfish or debauwi catfish; debauwi catfish have a similar behavior to iridescent sharks but only get 3" long, while glass catfish tend not to swim very much at all. BTW, both species of suggested catfish are schooling (as is the iridescent shark), so a group is suggested. I suggest Corydoras catfish for the bottom. A small group would be fine in a 29 gallon. I just got a group of 6 Sterbai Corys for my 125 gallon and I tell you they're all over the place, even though they're supposed to be bottom feeders. They're quite active and definitely lots of fun. I can't believe it took me so long until I got them, because I was definitely missing out. -------------------------------------------- The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. |

The Butterflyfish will also get to be about four inches and will prey on your smaller fish (danios). The shark will out grow your tank. You might consider returning the shark, mollies and butterflyfish to your LFS. Up your school of white shirts to at least six, since they are schooling and get a school of at least five cories, if you prefer. Right now the butterflyfish would most likely eat any ghost shrimp (which also need salt). |
