Stocking your tanks | |
tyler9999 Hobbyist Posts: 51 Kudos: 22 Votes: 1 Registered: 17-Oct-2007 | I realize that there are alot of purists out there that will cringe at this question, but what is wrong with stocking your tank with fish you like as long as they can live within the same perameters? I am extremely partial to Clown Loaches but I am also partial to many Cichlids. As far as I know there are few Cichlids in Asia and they require brackish water conditions so there goes my Asian Biotope with Cichlids included. At this point I think that I am going to put together a peaceful community in a 220 gal tank and enjoy regardless of others opinions. I am writing this thread because I want and need some ideas. I have 4 Clowns and 1 common Pleco that will be included in the stocking plans for this aquarium. I am planning to add 4-6 more Clowns and possibly another kind of Pleco. Thanks for the ideas. |

Clowns cannot be kept in brackish water. They are extremely sensitive to salt. As far as plecs go, how about a royal? Other fish i would suggest for your tank are rainbowfish, yoyo loaches, siamese algae eaters, red lined torpedo barbs(puntius densoni). The possibilities are endless. |

It says that one of them is sometimes found in freshwater lagoons but it also says it needs hard water. Clowns should not be kept in hard water or in a high pH. Again, they cannot be kept in brackish conditions. |

Nothing wrong with that at all. But you have answered your own question. Basically parameters is only one part of the solution that is if you are referring to water parameters. I have had Clowns for many years and they are easy to keep providing every think is running perfectly and the tank is designed for them. I think they are a very peaceful and easy to get along with as far as other fish are concerned. On saying that I don't think that a peaceful and shy fish woul last very long at all in my tank reason being at feeding time the larger CLs can be very aggressive and would chase a timid fish away. Note I have Bolivian Rams in the tank but only three. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do.
