Hi,
The tank you picture is more of a "show" tank than a
breeding tank. The show tank is deep and narrow and is
designed to confine fish within a narrow area to show off
a fish or fishes during a show. This way the fish, while
they can go up or down, they don't have, say 3 or 4 feet
to swim from left to right. They are confined in a narrow
area so the judges don't have to "strain" at each tank.

Normally, for a breeding tank the length is much wider
than the height. This gives fish known as egg scatterers
room to race about and also gives the parties places to
hide during the breeding process. The shallower depth
allows the male to catch the eggs before they reach the
bottom (he has less of a trip up and down between the nest
and the gravel) and does not wear the male out. In the
so called breeder tank the surface area is larger allowing
a better exchange of oxygen and will support more fish as
well.

It's a "cute" tank, and if your fish breed in it then they
are happy. I'd not purchase it for that. It would be nice
on a desk for display though.

Frank

I have used it for breeding bettas, but you need to put in an air-driven sponge filter instead of that powerhead one, its waaay too strong. Drop the water level ettc and essentially you have a very small breeding tank.

It wouldn't be my first choice for a breeding tank, far from it, but in a pinch you can adapt it to suit.

For other purposes, I can't fault them. they have awesome filters, the glass is wonderful and the whole setup is just too easy
