I hope this is in the correct/best Forum

A new member asked me if I had a list of very good WWW sites where she could get reliable infomation and do some research on fish and plants. As you can see I am not refering to any other Fish Forums at all.
This member wants it purely for general knowledge not scientific knowledge for a Uni degree etc.

Thinking more about that something like this could be very helpful to all members.

I will do a bit of research myself and see what I have on my computer info file.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

Erm, what kind of information? And what level of reliability? General knowledge? To me it's still kind of open-ended what is being asked for.

For example, www.fishbase.org is a good start for fish. Though generally reliable, they do tend to be outdated on some points and is sometimes unrelaiable. I could also say www.planetcatfish.com has articles written by a number of published authors such as Heok Hee Ng, an expert on Asian catfishes who also takes the time to write a few articles for aquarists. www.wetwebmedia.com includes information by the author Robert Fenner who has also published the book "The Conscientious Marine Aquarist". Wikipedia can be a good collection of information, depending on the article, but trust only as much as information as that which is cited (which may lead to other reliable sites).

I suppose you may also be able to find some such information on stuff like www.nationalgeographic.com if you can hunt through all their news items.

Just throwing some ideas out there.

I would say good general knowledge suitable for beginner and advanced. One reason is unreliable LFS info which we have all come across.

Here is some I have found

Arizona Aquatic Gardens

[link=Nature Aquarium Galleries]http://www.adaeuro.com/default.asp[/link

Garden and Leisure UK

Planted Tank Resources

Planted Aquarium Pages

Calculating dosages of fertilizer elements for a planted tank

Hair (thread Algae)

I have included Sera reason I often refer to this site and have posted info with their permission
Sera Products

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

Ah, for some reason I was under the impression that you wanted some non-aquarist information.

Some books are pretty good for information. Just dropping by the library and picking up a few books is a good idea.

www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk is pretty good, I think. I just surf there for current events mostly, but I think they have some good articles in there as well.

www.aquahobby.com has been around for a while. Some pretty good info there posted by users.
