World's biggest freshwater lobster caught in North-West Tasmania!

How does a crayfish a metre long strike you as a pet?

Astacopsis gouldi, the world's largest freshwater crustacean (and, needless to say, CITES I Schedule) has just hit the news.

Apparently it boasts claws 25 cm long, and measures 90 cm from tip of claws to telson. Now that is one BIG crustacean!

Hey, Gee. Click on the link at the bottom of the article for ABC and it will take you to a picture.

That's INSANE!! The only lobster I am used to seeing is what is in the tank at the grocery store. I thought that Shoprite has some nice looking ones, but HOLY DOODLE that is HUGE!!

Thanks,
~R

I wish I had a big tank for one. I always wanted a pet lobster since I don't like eating them

I've never even seen a saltwater lobster that big SCUBA diving. That is so huge.

i'm more thinking of how long it would take to cook, and much butter i'd need.

course i do agree, something that big should be left to finish its life naturally.
