OK I have the following:
dojo loaches
small angels
boliv rams
cories (panda, albino, sterabi)
zebra danios
swordtail juvies
a couple julies (dunno what species 1 is, 1 is ornatus)
red eye tetras
rainbow shark

Would they be OK dispersed into smaller (10-30g) tanks for a few weeks? I want to tear down my 75g and redo (replant, scrape algae, new water, ect) it, but i need to take the fish out to do what I intend. It is a healthy tank, the fish are disease free, healthy, eating fine, ect, but it isn't a pleasing tank to look at. There is alot of algae that needs to be put under control, I want to plant the tank w/ the money I'm going to get for my birthday, It isnt clear, it is always cloudy, even w/ my 30% water changes every week. I just want to tear it down and start over, another cycle and everything.

So would they be ok?

I think your fish will be fine if you put them up in hotel tanks for a bit. Before I made my move to NC from MI I had to move into another place for a week before the big move down here. I took all my fish from my 55G and put them in a 20G long bare bottom tank. Kept my canister running on the 20G and all was fine. In fact, it took me about 3 days to make the move and I didn't lose a fish until a couple of weeks after I moved down here. I think that was only due to my territorial convicts.

The key for you will be to have cycled filters ready to go for your hotel tanks.

Thanks! I think that I am going to do a big rubbermaid container, and the teardown and revamp should take around a week

If you're changing substrate too, make sure to save some of the old gravel and put it in a mesh or fabric bag and set a bunch of it on your new substrate so the good bacteria can colonize the new stuff and you avoid cycling again.

When my 5ft tank cracked all the fish went into a 3ft tank.
It does have problems but if you follow several simple rules there will be no problems at all.
Less feeding amount and les often in other word cut the feeding by half and only every second/third day.

Add more air at least two good sized air stones.

Water change a minimum of 50% weekly (use stored prepared water) also at the water change add some Seachem Stability this will keep the good bacteria up.

If you do a cycle using Stability it will speed it up a lot possibly cutting the time in half.

I hope this helps you.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info
