ok mind made up. it's going to be a biotope in terms of fish and style of aquasacpe. not really the plants as i'm going for java fern, java moss and limnobium bieviguton.

so the fish and stocking suggestions please

i already have a bristlenose pleco and 13 neons.

the neons can be exchanged - like to keep bristlenose.

tank details 36x15x22 inches, 710LPH canister filter, 50W lighting, 200W heater.

Fish like
silver dollors
discus
angels - (LFS had lovely wild angels at the moment)
cories
rummynose
neons

SWEET!!! I'm liking the angel, rummy nose, cory combo.

I would be concerned about putting angels in with neons though, because the angel might start snacking on them once they (the angels) get big.

Biotope for angelfish, discus and cardinal tetras is very simple - wood, water and substrate. These tanks often include small rocks and driftwood, and create a very realistic setting that mimics that of the wild fish. Strictly speaking, you would have no plants. In these biotopes, the wood is thin branches that provide the fish with protection from predators.

If you were to provide plants, the biotope would include plants of the Amazon not Asia. This would eliminate java fern and java moss but limnobium bieviguton may be fine as well as many echinodorus that are low to medium light.

I'd advise against silver dollars, they need to be in groups and are very skittish, and also grow too large for that tank

Let's see... you have a 51 US gallon tank or 195 litre tank. How did I do on spelling?

Go with a minimum of 5 small angels to hopefully get a pair. The small angels won't immediately feast on the neons and may come to regard the fish as tankmates as opposed to a very colorful snack. Angelfish have some aggressive tendencies that can be reduced by increasing their numbers. Three is too few while five gives you good odds on having two sexes while diffusing aggression.

something to consider, for conservation purposes, buy tank raised fish, not wild when possible. Also, wild angels are VERY VERY VERY delicate. They make most discus look easy.

shekoi,

i also have a SA tank, except for my red and green tiger lotuses, which i love too much to be pedantic about... i keep a trio of wild-coloured (not wild-caught!)angels, 30+ rummynoses, 30+ neons, 10 black phantoms, a breeding pair of blue rams, a pair of royal whiptails, and a pack of sterbai corydoras... and it's gorgeous! i'd really recommend going with a large number of one species of tetra, which will be beautiful to look at and great for the health of the fish. tetras are happiest in big schools. i'd go with rummies and just not replace your neons as they die off, which is what i'm working towards...pity the neons are so healthy! enjoy your tank.
