I have a 75 gallon tank with an emperor 400 on it. (it states its good for up to 80 gallon tanks) but i have having some serious trouble with clouding watter. I've tried everything from requent water changes to buying some stuff that supposedly "clears cloudiness to crystal clear". Should i buy another empeoror 400 or something to put on it?

Cloudiness really isn't necessarily up to the filter. What kind of cloudiness is it, green or white? If it's green you've got problems with unicellular algae, and if it's white your biological filtration is lacking.

IMO a second filter would be good, whatever it may be, but not because your tank is cloudy.

I agree on the second filter. I found on my 75 that when I added a second filter, I got much better water movement and it looked to me like the water was a bit clearer, too. It wasn't bad to begin with, though.

i used to use a proquatics 1600 filter (canister) which seemed to work ok but the cleaning began to be a hassle seeing how there wasnt much space to really move around to disconnect all the hoses and everything from where the tank was. So you think i should try for another emperor 400 filter? its a monster of a filter as is but it seems like my tank could use some help.

this may be too obvious but could it be some food that you have just started using or something? Something new you've been putting in the tank?

I agree with simpkia, could it be a feeding problem rather than a filter problem?

well yea i know its because of over feeding with those shrimp pellets. Only problem is i can't get it to be clear again, and of course another filter that will filter thru 400 gallons per hour could only help.
