Hi all!

I've just passed by my lfs and found this really bizzard but "wanting to buy fish The name of the fish on the tank was "flounder" it was flat like a sting ray. It's only about a riz cracker size not larger. I was wonderig if anyone know about this fish and provid some info. I want to add it to my collection

That's a good size. I haven't seem them much bigger than pennies at my LFS!:%)

Despite the small size I've seen them at, apparently these fish can reach a size of around a foot, if I'm not mistaken. These fish will definitely appreciate a sand substrate. Also, many of these fish are best kept in a brackish environment rather than a freshwater one. However, flounder are carnivorous, so don't keep it with anything too small.

I think that's a general overview. I don't know these fish 100%, and I'm sure someone here has them and can give more details.

Flounder, if you go to your grocery store can be bought ....not for the tank obviously ...but will give you an idea of its size. Unless you have a very big tank I wouldnt' suggest getting one.

Depends on the species. Most BW flounders caught for the trade only reach 6-7"

Here are some of the Flounders located in the southern Aust SW

Nos 618 has been recorded at 52.7 cm
619 " " " 49cm

I had a flounder. He was a cute little guy of a BW species that only gets 4" (I forget exactly what species, though). He died a few weeks or a month ago or something

Thx all for the answers. Unfortunatly I can't get it cause it's brakish...looks like a resemblance to a sting ray. I won't if these guy would eat snails
