Right now I have 3 medium guoramis, 4 tiger barbs, 3 synodontis petricolas. So far I've been switching food almost everyday, which my fish love. So far I feed them frozen mysis shrimp and bloodworms, tetramin flakes, freeze dried bloodworms and shrimp. The only thing is I only feed them in small amounts at a time once a day. My barbs eat up all the food and the bits and pieces are ate up by the guoramis. I feed my cats algae wafers, but they only get a little bit because the other fish eat up that too. How much and how often should I feed these guys? I want to get enough food to my cats too. Oh yea, then theres my pleco. Its the L-264 (grey leapord or sultan) He never comes out to eat. Is this a bad thing? I'd like to see him come out and eat too. |

For best colors, it is best to feed your fish a little bit of food 4 times a day. I personally feed my dads fish 2 times a day. Your pleco is probably nocturnal, and that is why you never see him come out. Try to drop a pellet in at light before you go to sleep. |

Every day they get 1/4 tea spoon of each a flake and a sinking pellet type ( I have three different varieties and rotate each feeding.) Also four algea chips (they are small) which I break up. I do this each feeding time except when they get four small frozen cubes of blood worm three times a week but here they also get the Algea chips I have never timed it but they will search for it until it is all gone. Its kind of hard to judge how much to feed them since my barbs terrorize the food and scare the guoramis away. Most of the time the guoramis end up eating the wafers with my petricola cats. As far as my most $ fish(L-264) he might be nocturnal because he comes out of his hole around 10 minutes after I turn the lights out. Planetcatfish.com does not specify if the fish is nocturnal or not. However, my lfs has one in a diplay tank with many other plecs and it comes out and feeds on wafers when fed (much more active than mine too). I have fed my fish more small amounts in the past 2 days and have noticed that my tank has grown more white algae which I clean about once a week from my tank. I'm almost ready to take the barbs out, they're nice but frustrate me because they eat way too much. |

I think feeding really depends on type of fish. Say if you got a large silver shark, which is quiet fast and can eat heaps then you would have to allow for this, as he would scoff it all down before anyone else gets a chance. Also the type of food would also change the amount of time. |
