in my bedroom i have two betta tanks. 5.5 gallons, side by side... EXACTLY the same set up. 1/2 inch gravel, 2 fake plants, 2 flower pots, and a heater. (1 betta in each) however, the day after my water change sushis tank will be bout 1/4" lower in water than the other. the next day it will be much lower. etc. so one tank i am always topping up. i dont get it??? and its annoying

Is the one that evaporates faster closer to a window, heat source or air conditioning vent then the other?

Putting glass tops on will reduce evaporation significantly.

Is it possible the one tank is leaking? Glass tanks under 10 gallons IME are notorious for leaking.

if you cant find any other reasons than evaporation, i'd consider getting a lid for the tank. i don't have one on my 50.5 gal and i loose about 1 inch of water every week!

The tank that is evaporating more could be at a higher temp, more water movement, close to a warmer situation in the room.

You should have a glass top fittted this will reduce most of the evaporation.

My 5ft tank evaporates about 2-3lt every week even though there is a glass cover except for the ends where it is open 1o-15mm.

I tend to loose about 1cm, every couple of days and i have a glass lid on my tank...Is it because i have my light on for 6-8 hrs a day?? Another thing my bungalo seems to get moisture on the inside of my windows....in the mornings...that can't be because of my tank could it
