I'm trying to decide which dither fish to get...tank stock is a blue acara, firemouth, keyholes, angels, L. dorsigera, convict, and my mystery cichlid.

Zebra Danios, very inexpensive and very fast. Your cichlids would expend a lot of energy trying to catch them!

Giant danios, because they swim at the top while the cichlids spend more time at the bottom. This will probably prevent them from being harrassed too much...

Giant Danios

I've got them in my tank and they are perfect. My angel can't do much abt them. It's only in breeding time by angel goes nuts on them

Shape contrast....silly reason I know, but then I'm the person that considers what color fish will look good with the plants I have in the tank .

Silver dollars are actually great dither fish when it comes to American cichlids. I have used giant danios as well...
