I had two fish when I was about 4, one goldfish and one ... well... kind of a goldfish, except it was black and had two huge bulging eyes, almost looked like one of those aliens from starwars I kept them in a large square jar, of about 7" x 7" x 12" (12 high). A couple of years later I just had one goldfish in a bowl. That creature was one tough thing, it survived in that bowl for 3 years, after which the cat pushed the bowl from its place, causing it to break on the stone floor. The fish ended up under the old oven, was coated in dust and then had to suffer through living in a glass for the rest of the day before we got a new bowl. Half a year later it was the first fish in our new pond, where it mated next spring with (some of) the white goldfish we put in there too. That summer the pond was full of half orange - half white goldfish. The goldfish itself grew from the 2" it was in the bowl to 7" in the pond, in just over a year.

We had a 55g built into our basement wall when I was growing up. It was home to angels, black mollies, and neons

When I was 15 I bought my first betta. Just over a year ago I got my first 'real' tank and the first fish I purchased for that were zebra danios.

I think Guppy's & Mollies where the first fish i had. I'm not sure but those are the most common for beginners.

If I can remember that far back. I would say possibly guppies and black mollies, and plants of course. I think it was a 3ft tank

I remember when a was little we had a tank with guppies in it. First fish, when my wife and I moved into our new house we bought a red betta(she named "FRED" and a 1 gallon glass fish bowl. We somehow managed to keep him alive for over 3 years.

We had fish when I was little, I can't remember what they were. I remember a couple of kissing fish and some angels. but that is all.
Now, when i set up my 29 gal, I started with a small (6) school of red rasboras, and have added since then a striped rubbernosed pleco, a pair of blue dwarf gouramis and some black mollies.

My first fish was when i walked into petsmart to look at the dogs they had for rescue (i was 11) and when i got there i decided to walk over to the fish, and there were 3 swordtails swimming around the plant tank. The lady told me someone dropped them there, so i took them home for free, and but them in a little hexagonal tank that i purchased. Soon a few years later they were waay to big for that tank and i got my 20 galloN!
