I've been wanting to try salt from the beginning but decided to start with FW and then had no room for another tank. Well my 10g is empty so I was thinking some live rock and maybe a small fish or 2. I like the neon goby . If it works out eventually I'll change my 55g over. How is the filtration different from FW and what would I need for a 10g? Anyone know some good places to order live rock?

A tank that size will be a lot of work. The larger the tank, the easier it will be.

That being said, add about 10 pounds or live rock with a powerhead, heater, and lights. You will be able to put only one small fish in a tank that size. You can add a few shrimp, hermits, and snails.

The down side will be that you will have to maintain the tank every day making sure it's topped off. If not the water will evaporate and the salt levels will climb.

I know a small tank would be more work and if I had the money I'd be using my 55g. So that aside I want to do about 10lbs lr with maybe 1 goby. Suggestions or links to sites about invertebrates? What's a good gph for a powerhead on a 10g? Any suggestions on what salt to use or are they too similar to really matter? Last question right now how much lr should I start with and where can I get a small amount of quality rock?

If you can get 5 to 10 pounds of rock, that should be a good start. Do you have any LFS in your area? I always like to see what I buy.

Here is one place that is just over $2 a pound, plus shipping.

You can also try Ebay and do a search for live rock, you may find soem good prices.
