Planning to convert my 120 gallon frshwater to a 120 gallon FOWLR(5.8 feet long, 2 feet wide, 2.2 feet tall). How does this stock list sound to all of you?

1 Yellow Tang - 8" max.

1 Spotted Hawkfish - 5" max.

1 Bursa Triggerfish - 9" max.

1 Cuban Hogfish - 8" max.

1 Male Bird Wrasse - 11" max.

1 Female Bird Wrasse - smaller than male

Will all of these fish live happily together in my 120 gallon with minimal aggression? Am I overstocking?

Thanks.

I'm thinking that's a bit much for that tank. You have several fish that go on the large side. The tang needs very high water quality. Some of those fish are carnivors, and those are high bio load fish. I woudl suggest reading about each fish and deciding on what one or two you want. Then build around your center piece fish.

I agree with Dan, you do have quite a bio-load there.
I wouldnt put alot of live rock in the tank because you have fish that need alot of swimming room.

Also the trigger will eat almost any invert so beware if your gonna put shrimp exc..

I'd defentinally pass on the trigger. They are very aggressive towards almost any other fish, and can do a lot of damage quickly.

The Bird Wrasses are definetly my centerpiece fish. I won't do the tank without them. I didn't realize I was putting all carnivores with one herbivore--thanks for pointing that out. I wasn't planning on getting any invertebrates so that won't be a problem. If I didn't get a Triggerfish and a yellow Tang will I be alright stocking wise?

1 Spotted Hawkfish

1 Male Bird Wrasse

1 Female Bird Wrasse

1 Cuban Hogfish

Could I possibly add another fish to this setup?

Well this is from Marine Fishes by Scott W. Michael about the bird wrasse: "Can becomde aggressive toward its tankmates, especially smaller fishes. It will grasp an elongate prey fish in its jaws adn bash it against the substrate until it breaks in to bite-sized pieces"

Your tank is not over stocked now. I would be very cautious of what other fish I would put in it.

That looks better. You may wont to consider adding the most aggressive fish last. This can help calm them down a bit. You will have to think about some kind of clean up crew. Otherwise you will be doing a lot of tank maintance.

For a cleanup crew, I was thinking of maybe two large urchins as the fish I plan to add only bother crustaeceans from what I heard. I Wwas researching a few smaller semi-aggressive/aggreesive fish I came up with C.eibli/Eibl's Angelfish and a Maroon Clownfish. Would adding one or both of these fish to my list be oevrstocking it? Which order should I add the fish?

P.S.--correction on the tank measurements--4.9 feet long, 18 inches wide, 2.2 feet high--sorry about that.

I think you should see how the 4 you want go first, then decide if adding another is a good idea. Maroon clowns can be a real problem. I have one and it's pushes around my cho. chip starfish.
