![]() | 20 gallon saltwater |
rtcpenguin![]() Fingerling Posts: 27 Kudos: 17 Votes: 0 Registered: 19-Jun-2004 ![]() ![]() | I was reluctant to try a smaller marine setup, until today, when I found multiple stories online of people sucessfully keeping 10g or smaller saltwater tanks with some of the hardier breeds of saltwater marine life. I am interested in setting up a 20 gallon tank with perhaps 1 or 2 percula clowns. Can I safely keep clowns without any live coral or anemone? Any tips/advice on clowns? |

I'm sorry to bring in a negative tone but, in such a small tank, although possible to have and very possible to keep the inhabitants alive and very healthy, it will require A LOT of work from you. The saying 'the bigger the better' couldn't be more true for marines. That 20gallon tank will require considerable and focused day-by-day maintanence..... and there'll be a small margin for error. Good luck though. |

But as stated, watch the tank daily, top off the tank every day. You can add some live rock and this will help with your biological filteration. Dan |

The problem comes from when water evaporates, the salt stays behind, and the salt levels will go up. So you want to keep your water levels the same to the tank is stable. SW fish like stability in there water. Dan |

This will help bring out more color in the fish. But as far as the amount of light, nope, no need to add any more. Dan |
