i want some advice in getting myself an algae eater to clean up hairy algae on my rocks and glass...please feed me with suggestions...

i was thinking of either a Lawnmower Blenny or a Bicolour Blenny...which one cleans better? At the moment, my LFS only have the Bi-colour blenny...so if that does a great job, then i'll get one of those...they do look nicer than the lawnmower blenny as well....

If the tank is large enough, a yellow tang. Otherwise blue leg hermits, or a lettis nudi(sp)

I am pretty sure the tank is NOT big enough, if I am remembering right. Sally lightfoot crabs are great for hair algae. My hermits never touched it. The lettuce nudi's will eat it too, but can be problematic for newbies. At least they aren't going to wipe out your tank if they die, though. If it were me, and you have the room for it in the tank, I would go for the lawnmower blennie over the bi-color. They are really great at ridding you of hair algae. Plus, they will supplemental feed without hair algae present....the nudibranch may not, and to be honest after 6 months, I never had anymore hair algae in my tank.....it just went away.

Agreed, a lawnmower blennie is a REALLY good choice.
They are also very interesting fish to watch with a LOT of personallity.

Id switch to RO or RO/DI water instead of using tap water to take care of your algae problems......to me its pointless to add a fish to take care of the algae. Sure they will eat the algae, but they will just produce more waste to feed the algae, plus take away space that you could use for a fish that you really want.

about the RO water...
i will use them from now on...

but since i already filled my tank now with tap water, do i need to take it out and refill it with RO water?
or will the chemicals in the tap water fade away with time?

thx

They will dilute over time if you are using RO or RO/DI water for all your water changes and FW top offs.
