I finally broke down and got me a real nice blue tang. Very bright blue, very active. And man can it eat.

It would be 5" long. A very nice impressive fish. I'm very happy with it.

I got that for $50 from a LFS that I'm in good with the owner.

Nice fish, but the eel is better.

Looks like a healthy fish to me. Finding Nemo inspired I'm sure.

Until I looked at the pictures, I thought you were talking about Acanthurus leucosternon, the powder blue tang. I was going to say I have much respect for you, because powder blues tend to be ick magnets IME. So anyway, nice hippo tang.

Good luck with him; I've noticed a decrease in reliability of these fish since Finding Nemo came out. I hope yours does okay. Keep him well fed so he retains those colors.

He's eating like a pig. I can't belive how much it eats. When we brought it home I said to my family, you can name it anything you want, except for one name. And of course, they chose the one name... So I ended up naming it.

Haha...lemme guess what they named it...

Dory? Or is it Dori?

Glad he's eating well, that's a good sign.

Now I'm curious, what are you feeding him? Sometimes I have trouble getting the ones at work to eat. Joe Burger (I think it was him...) recommends feeding the red macroalgaes, daily at least, and replaced as needed. Your LFS probably carries Seaweed Selects. I think Julian Sprung's brand is usually a big hit, and Ocean Nutrition as well. My boss also likes to give them Vita-Chem dips...idk about that.

Please share your success...it's all too common to be able to see the ribs of many tangs these days. People just dont care for them correctly...

I've been using omega one flakes. They eat it as fast as they can. I have tried brine shrimp, but he eats it and then spits it right back out. Tonight I tried blood worms, but my son distracted me so I didn't see how well he ate it. He's nice and fat. I watch that closly. That is the first sign of a problem. They colors is also nice and bright.
