Does carbon still work if it is left to dry out?
I was thinking of using it for a short time and wondering if I could use it the next time.

It should be fine if you allow it to dry out between uses, but if you're planning on leaving it in your filter for in the area of a week or so, I'd chuck it out and buy fresh rather than save it..

I would not suggest reusing carbon. It can only soak up so much. Carbon is cheep and should be dumped after use.
