Ok, first, a fish only tank does not have live rock. Here is what you need.

Tank
top
lights
powerheads
heater
substrate
salt
water
patience

Set up the tank, add one bottle of cycle, let the tank cycle. Then add fish. You can add decorations as you see fit.

If you want a FOWLR Fish Only With Live Rock, then you cna use live rock.

Options are hang on back filter and a skimmer. Other filters are not needed.

Your telling me i dont need a filter?????
I know i need a filter...would an HOB powerfilter be ok?
(i already have one because stuff like canister filters are expensive!! By the way the filter is a "Penguin biowheel 200" and it has cartriges that you replace as needed. So is it ok to use in a FO saltwater tank?)
whats a powerhead annyway?

im a newbi

You do not need a HOB filter, but I still like to use them for surface movment. Yes, what you have will be fine in a FO tank. The bio wheel will do the same job as live rock and provide the biological filteration. A powerhead is the pumps that you se ein the corners of thanks, it moves the water around. I suggest two, one in each back corner pointing in a X patern.
