I purchased a green brittle starfish. I have been reading about it and have found that many find this star to be a risk in aquariums. In that, it will kill fish. Does anyone on this site have any experience with these and are they really all that bad? I will target feed mine shrimp, mullosks, silversides and some other sea food. Will this prevent it from killing fish?

Thanks alot,

Leah

If this, http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?cls=16&cat=1908&articleid=2176 is the one you have, no, it's a Omnivore and mainly looks for detris and uneaten food.

I did find this information. Hope it helps.

Although they are not a threat to corals or clams Brittle Stars may catch and eat small passive reef fishes, such as small gobies, at night. Otherwise they are great reef inhabitants.

Thanks. I took a look at the link and the picture looks just like the one I have. It is in the tank a triger, tang, lionfish and snowflake eel. Although they are for the most part babies, but I think (hopefully) they are big enough that the star will not see them as food.

Again, thanks for your time and help.
