I have a striped damsel and a clownfish. I recently noticed white things on the damsels fin. It looks like little white eggs or maybe grains of salt, but I know that's not what it is. Now I'm starting to notice patches of weird color on the clown, too, as if he might be getting the same thing.
Now I heard that garlic could be a way to treat this, because as far as I know, it definitely resembles that disease called "Ich" or "Ick" or whatever it's called. Does anybody know if this is actually true? Because I don't want to waste my time trying something that won't help my fish.
Please help me! I'm starting to get nervous about my fishys!!

Please tell us a little more about your tank. What size is it, filtration and what are the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels. Ich is quite often caused by water quality problems.

This is a marine tank, yeah? I might shift you over there for help.

Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

It's a 10 gallon tank [yeah, I know that's small but I'm getting a bigger one soon.] I don't have the tests to check what the nitrate level and amonia levels are, but before I put the fish in, I added a water conditioner. It says, "Aquasafe! Makes tap water safe for fish. -Neutralizes chlorine, chloramine, and heavy metals harmful to fish. -Enhances natural, protective slime coating on fish. For healthy, clear water [fresh and marine aquariums]."
What do you mean by filtration? I can tell you that it's a Whisper 10 power filter with cartridge. [It says it on the box. haha]. The salinity is at a stable level of 30 and the specific gravity stays around 1.021-1.023.
What am I doing wrong and what can I do to help? And what about the stupid garlic thing I heard about??
