I just upgraded my tank from a 10 to a 30 and I want to get some fish. I really want a coral beauty angel and a hawkfish. Some other ideas I had for the tank were ocellaris clowns and a jawfish. Is this combination possible? What order should I put them in the tank? Thanks for the help and anything else you can throw at me to help me out.

Except for the clowns, I would say any one of those fish will fully stock a tank that size.

Also, many hawkfish species aren’t going to fit in a tank that small. If you do still want one, you’re going to have to head in the direction of falco hawks, or something else about that size. You aren’t going to be able to keep arc-eye or freckled hawks, that’s for sure. That’s too bad, because they’re pretty neat fish.

One idea runs with the clownfish pair. You could use the thirty as a spawning setup for the two clowns, since A. ocellaris fish are usually quite willing to spawn in captivity. You’d want another tank for raising the larvae/fry, but it’s worth it.

And hey, welcome to Fish Profiles!

I was thinkin about a Flame Hawk. I've seen them around, and I just think they're really neat little guys. I'm not too interested in breeding anything. I just want a nice tank to watch. I love relaxing and just watching the fish. If I did get the Coral Beauty, what could I potentially put with it? My heart is set on one.

And thanks, I was a member before, but I either forgot my username or password or I deleted it, or... who knows! But thanks, its been awhile since I've been into the hobby, so I'm glad to get sucked back in.

In a tank that size, a coral Beauty would be near the limit. With a lot of live rock you might be able to add one other small fish, like a percula clown, or a royal gramma.

I'm not getting any definate answers here... Can I do a flame hawk and a coral beauty in a 30? I won't do anything else, and there is tons of live rock.

With tons of live rock you would be pushing it. It is possible but it would demand more maintainence then your average tank. 1in per5g is a good measure, That means 6in is a good maximum of that tank coral beauty gets 4in and so does the flame hawk this puts you over. While just one of those fish would be perfect.
