[font color="#800080"]Hi there,
I am considering setting up a saltwater tank in the future, if I could manage it. I would like to have the Royal Gramma Fish. What size tank would 1 of these fish need? Do they need to be in pairs, groups, or can they be kept singly? Do they require live rock, anemones, or other such in their tank? Can anemones be kept with them, and do anemones require live rock? Feeding requirements? Any other info I would need about these beauties?

For the gramma a 30Gal should do. They are very aggresive, and should be added last to any tank, and only 1 should be kept in a tank. I personaly had one, and was glad when it got stuck behind the filter. They seem to fight with everything I added to the tank! Best of luck.

Mine has been very well behaved, does not bother any other tank mate. Guess it's up to the fish. They like ot have live rock to hide in. And do not need an anemone.

they tend to be agressive to new arrivals...and definitely no more than one unless your tank is huge...and also no dottybacks with it unless your tank is huge

I've kept a royal gramma with my yellow tang and a clownfish in a 55 gallon tank since setting it up several months ago. He is very well behaved and loves swimming and sometimes even resting under or within my live rock.

I feed mine a mixture of frozen/freeze dried brine shrimp and spectrum pellets.

Do you think a Single Royal Gramma, by itself, with no other tank occupants, would be ok in a 20g or less? Maybe even a 15 or 10?
Can someone do a tiny saltwater like a 10g? If so, and if RG fish couldnt fit is there any marines that could?

The smaller the tank the harder to control your water parameters. That being said,Mine spent 6 weeks in a 10g with 2 small clowns and weekly water changes.Long term I would think only one RG in a 15g would be O.K. if you are willing to give it daily attention.

If you like Royal Grammas so much why not go with a 20g and get a Skunk or blood shrimp or other interesting critters.RG's really enjoy caves and rockwork and a 20 would give you way more options than a 10g.

Ok, so how about a 25g tall tank? Would that work for this fish? Perhaps with a tall live rock in the center with lots of holes, a sand substrate, and some anemones.
Would the Royal Gramma work with either a clownfish of some kind, or with a pink watchman goby, or how about with green chromis or the like?
So say 25g
Live Rock
Anemone or two
Couple Shrimpys
1 Royal Gramma
1 Pink Watchman Goby
2-3 Green chromis?

Tall tanks are not the best for SW, but will work. A gramma will do fine with a small clown such as a percula, This is what I have. As for a anemone, they get very large, and will need more light because you have a tall tank.

Be aware that RG's are generally shy and will mostly hide with other active fish about. Except for dinner time! Mine doesn't seem to mind any other critters than fish.
