Hi
i currently have one sand sifting star fish and one brittle star in a 50US Gal tank with mushrooms, 7 hermits, 8 snails, a clown, damsel and tang

Will i be okay getting another sand sifter??

I'm going to say not a good idea, they can get a bit large, in the area of 12 inches. If your looking to move sand around, you can look at getting some Nassarius Snails. They do a good job of moving sand.

And, they will be competing for food in your tank. One will do your entire tank in about 1-2 days, as far as turning over the sand and such. Two would probably lead to loosing one becuase of lack of food.

Will you be keeping any corals? Or just fish? There are many you can keep if your just keeping corals, and if you feed them directly, so that they get enough food. As for if you are keeping corals, there is an old way to help determine if they will be good with corals; The more points or tips they have on them, the less likely they will do well with corals, and the more smoothly they are, the more likely they will not harm corals. This actually does work for about 95% of all starfish.
