its a 20H. 20lbs of live sand, 23lbs of live rock. I just put in 2 scarlet hermits. What kind of cycle can i expect with that setup? Should i add a fish and/or some more inverts soon or wait a bit? Thanks.

Test your water, you will get a high ammonia. The cycle should be over in a few weeks. After your nitrites drop you can start adding fish.

So even with the live sand and rock i should still expect it to take a few weeks?

My tank cycled in about 5 days. Time will vary. I'd expect 2 weeks max, maybe sooner.

That depends on how high the ammonia gets. If it gets over 1.2 there could be problems.

I had quite a few hermits and snails that came on my live rock, it was someones old tank, so they gave me most of the inverts. I lost very few/none of them during the cycle.

just did some tests, ammonia was at .25 (I think .25, it was the lowest positive reading), nitrites at .5 and nitrates at 20.

From the looks of it your over the hump for ammonia and on the nitrite cycle. .5 is a bit high, over .2 is high. Watch your levels close, I suspect the nitries will hold level for a few days then start to work down. Your ammonia should be at or near zero in a day or two.
