My Anthias huchtii recently developed some white dots on his gill cover (just one side). It is not white grains like white spot, it is rather big and it's like it is sticking on the fish externally.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a fungus.At least that is what the description in the books I've read.Did you try the disease identifier in the interactive section?

If the fish is showing signs of stress, do not do a FW dip.
