my clownfish seem to be fixated by the filters powerhead... they swim vertically underneath it - almost "kissing" it. I have put the net there to obstruct the filter head and this stops the clownfish from going there. But as soon as I move it, they are back.

Food doesn't deter them either.

Any ideas?

My percula does the same thing at night when he rests. He'll be directly under the powerhead. Yours should be ok as long as he isn't sick and is healthy and has strength to swim away from the power head.

What kind of powerhead is it? Mine is just a little Rio 90 enough for a little current but not enough for any concern. My blenny loves perching up on the powerhead also and my electric flame scallop has attached himself to the powerhead as well.

As long as it doesn't damage the fish, I'd suggest you don't try and deter it from doing it.

It may just be looking for a dead spot to take a small break. My maroon clown will do this at night.

I was concerned when my clowns swam to the surface and 'lay' on their sides at night, then I realised that they do this EVERY night after lights out. Next morning, they are just as active and busy as the rest of the tank habitants.

mine swim vertically by my powerheads at night too.

They have ever since I got them 10 months ago.

Never a problem.
