A pair of percula clowns would be a nice easy fish to start with. They only get a few inches in size, are very active, and do well in new tanks.

I know they get big and mean. That's why I like them.

If your going to suggest things to people, try to keep it as accurate as possible.

I guess if someone wanted a cat, you'd suggest they get a tiger because they are big and mean, even if they don't have an adequete habbitat?

Ive had experiences with 5g setups that only contained a small piece of liverock and an invert such as a small crab or shrimp. They were pretty cool and relaxing even though they were so small.

Maroons get rather large, I belive in the 6" range each. Mine is pushing 4", and they are a bit agressive.

Maroon Clownfish would be WAY too big for a 29 gallon. A pair in a 55 gallon is pusing it.

For a fish only or fish only with live rock, the stocking ratio is generally considered one inch of fish for every 3-5 gallons of water.....for a reef tank most people go off of one inch of fish for every 5-10 gallons of water.

BTW, bigger is better for a beginner......wait till you have a little experience then try going smaller using rock, sand, and coral from your main tank. The smallest tank that I have right now is 3/4 of a gallon.

The smallest tank that I/we sell in LFS (Salt Water) is 36 x 18 x 18" (50 US Gallons), we often get requests for smallr tanks but we point out the maintinence on a small tank and the amount of livestock you can keep.
You are limiting the fish/corals that you can keep in such a small tank
e.g. a couple of clowns and a smallish hawkfish
or a few assessors etc

But then you will be doing daily maintence on it, so my advise is get the biggest tank that you can so at least you have a wider range of fish to pick from. And on a bigger tank you can al least put some decent lighting on it so you can put some corals in it as well

(just my 2c worth)

The smaller the tank, the more work will be involved. A 10gal tank will work, but you will be doing something every day with it. I run a 20gal tank, but it's my Qtank and I have to top it off every few days.

It all depends on what you want to keep.
