I am considering a SW tank. I was thinking a mini reef in a ten gallon. I would like one or two small fish. First of all, is this possable in a 10 gallon, sencond what would you suggest for things to put in it(types of fish, types of rock, invertebrates?), third, can anyone give me a cost estimate??

Thanks!
Steph

A small SW tank is hard to maintain. Also, 10gals will be kind of small for 2 fish. As for what to put in the tank. I woudl suggest live rock, a percula clown, some shrimp, peppermint, cleaner, and fire make nice additions. Several small hermits and snails will also be a good idea. As for cost. That's a hard one. A hundered dollars and up depending on what you put in the tank, and the lighting you want.

as dthurs stated a smaller tank is harder to maintain as there is less water volume to "dilute" any mistakes made. for example incorrectly mixing 5gs of salt water with a higher salinity such as 1.030 into a 100 g tank would make little to no difference but in a 10g it would be catastrophic. dont be put off though because a nano tank can still be done it just requires more dilligence. try this forum

good luck

sorry forget to post... some possible inhabitants could include either a purple or fire dartfish, a false/true percula clown, a bi coloured blenny.
