octopi are very ahrd to take care off. they are extremely intelligent. They are extremely curious and will explore EVERYWHERE. they are also absolutely amazing escape artists, they can squeeze pretty much throwing anything. some octupuses with heads the size of a softball can easily fit through a bottle top.

so extreme caution, of corsse they would be species only, they are excellent predators. and they ahve a tendency to ahve short lifespans in aquaria. I personally wouldn't recommend keeping an octopus.

Some of the smaller species can be kept in tanks as small as twenty gallons, though that would be more difficult due to the problems of maintaining good water quality. If an octopus inks in its tank, you will need to be very quick about damage control. A higher amount of water volume helps with that.

I can't remember anything that is supposed to get along with an octopus (read: won't eat it or be eaten), so I'll just say that they aren't compatible with anything. Most fish and crustaceans will be consumed, unless you try and keep it with larger fish or eels which will eat the octopus.

That's funny, I seem to remember I posted on this the other day, but it seems to be gone. Someone want to explain this?

how about sea slugs? or sea hares?

Soem sea slugs are ok, others shoudl not be kept. Lettis nudis are easy and will eat hair algea. The purple nudis generally die in a month or so. Most nudis will starve because they simply do not get the food they need. Sea hares are another type of slug. I have one in my tank that's 5 or 6 inches long. But I very rairly see it.
