I belive these get around 5 to 6 feet long. I have a LFS here that keeps about 6 of them in a 4000gal tank. What size are you thinking about getting, a small or full grown? The tank shoudl be OK as long as there is enough room for it to turn around. The tank at the LFS is only about 4 feet deep, so it's a very large tank.

2,000 may work for a time, but it won't hold it for the sharks life. What are the dimensions of the tank? Thats very important.

Also, is there anything else in the tank? How is it decorated, etc?

press control f and search for nurse on this link
http://www.wetwebmedia.com/sharkfaqs2.htm

says nurse sharks get around 9-14 feet and best tank size is around a 4800-5000+ gallon tank
So, there are a lot of other sharks that are better/smaller
