No, mu neighbor has one they are very easy to keep you just have to keep your tank stocked with feeder fish, get a cave for your aquarium, and make sure that none of your fish are small enough for it to eat!

Make sure you have a tight fitting lid, or you will find eel jurky on the floor.

What dthurs says can't be stressed enough.:%)

Snowflakes are one of the few eels that are pretty much thought to be just about perfect for 55 gallon tanks; they are one of the smallest eels and are commonly recommended for the tank size. Another possibility is the chainlink eel; if my research is right, they get about the same size as snowflakes. Some people like the chainlinks because it is not as common as the snowflake; both are attractive fish, so if you're going by appearance either one is good.

And of course, the Dwarf Golden Moray is a possible candidate for a tank even smaller than a 55 gallon, but costing in the hundreds of dollars it's not really a cheap eel...:%)

I thought about getting a snowflake eel yesterday for my FOWLR tank. But the possibility of them jumping made me decide against it. I was told they could even get out the sjmall area where my filter is.

They are escape artists, and can even push a loose fitting lid. A tight fitting glass lid is a must, and the plastic parts need to be cut as close as possible. I then made a wood cover to go over the plastic and cover any holes.
