what substates can I use in my 30 gallon that i will be seettting up a reef, i dont wnat to bb, i lik the look of the lighter colored sands , i dont wnat crushed corla becuz i dont want to gravel vac, i was thinking pool fitler sand but i heard it doesnt sink easly but it is so cheap, is it worth the extra prica to just purchase carib sea arag- live sand, what aobut tahitian moon, how many inches of sand sohudl i have?

I would spend the extra money and get carib sea sand...but no need for the aragalive. Just get the plain ole dry sand. The tahitian moon sand will also work and it looks nice. I know a couple people that use it in their tanks.

I would go for a nice 2 inch deep sandbed so you can get the benefits of NNR.

I used carib. play sand for sand boxes. I got it from a home improvment shop for about $7 for a 50 pound bag. The only problem I had was it took several days to settle down. And left a thick layer of foam on the top of the water which I scooped off. 2 inches of sand is about perfect for a sand bed.

2-3 inches will achieve NNR...of course you can go deeper but 2 inches is the minimum to see any effect.
