Well i used to be on here quite a bit and i havent for a while.... i have the urge to set up a new tank using my two angel and 7 catfish.... right now they are in a 29 gallon and i would like to upgrade to a bigger tank.... preferably a 40 50 or 60 tall for the angels fins..... along with my two angelfish and catfish what are some good suggestions for fish to add and how many of each, if you could give me some names and types of fish i would very much appreciate it... also i wanted to go driftwood and plants and thats all for decoration keeping it pretty realistic but other then slate for breeding is there anything angelfish prefer in their enviorment? Any help would be EXTREMELY appreciated.

What type of catfish?

IME angels prefer to breed on large amazon sword leaves, probably the most naturalistic thing for them to breed on.

I think that angels look great with rainbowfish, even though they're not from the same biotope. The rainbows don't nip fins, and aren't likely to   off the angels, and all of the color and unique body shapes look great. I have a 65 gallon tank with a mess of rainbows and SAEs and at one point it also had 6 juvenile angels (though sadly a power outage has left me with only one ) The 65 gallon size is also ideal for bottom dwellers because it has more width than most tanks, giving them tons of room to move around on the bottom, even if you have lots of plants and/or decorations.

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...

the catfish are bronze cories

and also my bigger angel nips the smaller one and the smaller one (black) just sits in the bottom right corner of my tank ALL day behind a plant... and hes not sick because he has done it since i got him last summer... but my question is... in a 50 or bigger would the bigger angel still find the need to bite at him and i happen to have three amazon sword plants growing they just have to get bigger for eggs

would i be able to get neons or cardinals also? but risky because of disease and i dont want to risk them

Did you add the angels at the same time?

If so then this is normal, i got an angel pair (didn't know the gender when i bought them) and the male grew a lot quicker than the female and as a result the female got bullied a lot by the male. However after about a year the female started to get up to size and then they formed a mating pair.

If the smaller angel is still feeding and is showing no major signs of distress then i wouldn't overly worry about it.

Yeah that's pretty much what i did, and they enjoy it a lot more in the 55. See if you could get a custom built extra high tank, that'd be pretty impressive.

also the compatibility list on this site for the angels is lacking a few fish it seems. i have seen alot of people with angels and assorted tetras and alot of random things where they have done perfectly fine...... and those were in tanks up to the highest 30 us gallons....... im about to put 2 angels in a 55 high with 7 bronze cories..... i know there has to be some common types of fish that would be able to swim around without getting into trouble
