Past getting a good background in what it means to have a brackish water set-up, you don't need much more than marine salt and a way to measure salinity such as a refractometer. Hydrometers are ok, but refractometers are so much better. How much salt you will use will depend on what type of environment/fish you want; you will need to be able to measure the salinity of the water so you know how much salt is in there, of course.
