I recently purchased an Oceanic 50 gallon and noticed the frame is broken in a spot (see pic). Does this matter (other than visually) or does the frame aid in the structure of the tank?

Thanks!

The photo looks like it is the moulding going around the base of the glass tank, am I correct?

It does not appear to be a structual problem if that is what it is.

Sorry to say but the photo just shows a corner not the whole area to get a better look at it.

Contact where you bought the unit and explain it to them, If they are local show them on another tank.

It could be just shrinkage of the timber.

It is just molding around the tank and broken all the way through. I just wasn't sure if the molding was designed to increase the stability or it was just to make it look nice.

I'm just being overly cautious; been reading too many aquarium horror stories lately,
