theone0702 Small Fry Posts: 2 Registered: 25-Aug-2005 | I just started a new 46g bow front with an aquaclear filter and undergravel filters and my tank turned cloudy,it looks like smoke. I have 2 angels , 1 died and 3 red fire guppys. I tried using easybalance, made it worse. I filled the aquarium with 1/2 tap & 1/2 spring water. Please Help |

To quicken it, leave the lights turned off, and do a 25% water change twice per week. Do you know about the cycle? And what is your water change regime currently? There is always a bigger fish... |

If so the tank must cycle that is go through a chemical process before you can add any fish. This can take several weeks depend on the tank. Have a look in [link=My Profile]http:// www.fishprofiles.com/interactive/forums/profile.asp?userid=6741" style="COLOR: #00FF00[/link] for my tank info [link=Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tanks]http://photobucket.com/albums/b209/keithgh/Betta%20desktop%20tank/" style="COLOR: #00FF00[/link] Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. What's going on in your tank is simply the bacterial cycle starting. Unfortunatly the fish may not survive as you need hardy fish in order to cycle the tank first. Then once ammonia has risen and fallen to zero and nitrIte has risen and fallen to zero and NitrAte has risen and is present in moderate ammounts you'd be ready to add fish like angels. The best thing to do at this point is to let the cycle finish. If you can get some biospira or cycle. Both these products help establish the bacterial colonies that you'll need. Increase surface agitation by adding an airstone or lowering the water level a bit as that will help keep the water as oxygenated as possible. ^_^ |

The fish may though, also live through it. Just more of a likeliness with the use of either of those two products. Babel is absolutely correct. There is always a bigger fish... |
