I have a new tank (tank 10) with 200ltrs or 53 US gal of actual water. I have the usual cloudy water but I am wondering if it is just dust or is it air bubbles?

I am using stability and there are only 3 little whiptails and some plants and dw in the tank. No plans for any other fish for a while unless its more whiptails.

The internal filter is dual powerhead, spray bar and dual sponge filters and there seems to be billions of little air bubbles circulating in the water.

This is my first big 4ft tank so I know its different to a little 18" setup. Will the air bubbles settle down and the water develop density enough to get rid of them?

If it looks like bubbles, maybe check that your filters aren't drawing air from anywhere or that your spraybars aren't picking it up on output and pushing it into the water. Also check that your sponges are fully saturated and not holding bubbles (though they should be by now). Is the substrate clear of air?

How are your a/n/n levels? It could be algae-that-looks-like-dust.

That sounds exactly like when there is air in you water supply lines. As I said in chat it sounds like it is sucking in air some where near the intake.
Is there a "O" ring seal I would check that to see if it is making a perfect seal? I always use a silicone jell when I put my filter back together this stops it sticking when it is pulled apart. IF it sticks it can actually tear a small piece out causing a non perfect seal.

Take a big glass of the tank water out sit it on the kitchen bench and see it it clears up and the bubbles disperse.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

Its an internal filter and its fully submerged including the spraybar.

That is very odd. And to still be doing it, it must be drawing it from somewhere.

Does the filter have a venturi intake?

Quick fixes if you can't see where it is coming from would be to move the filter lower down in the water, at least 2" from the surface, and to disassemble and reassemble it underwater to ensure there is nothing trapped in there (though there won't be, too many bubbles for that)

That looks like you may have a bubble wall in there along the back Bren. Is that the case or is it just an illusion with the pic?

Is it possible that the flow from the filter is catching some of the bubbles from the wall and smashing them into micro bubbles?

I turned the filter off for a while last night and the bubbles disappeared but I discovered the water is still cloudy, so its still just the tank settling.
I will worry about bubbles later.
